How to Wear A Midi Dress For Petites
In my last post, I covered a topic on how petites can wear oversized tops and maxi skirts without looking overwhelmed by all the extra fabric. I thought it will be a good idea to expound further on the topic of styles that petites are supposed to avoid based on mainstream opinion.
Midi-length skirts and dresses are another class of clothing that are not always easy for petites to look good in but can totally work if certain guidelines are followed. Here are some ideas –
- Choose a dress or skirt which is just over the knee or hits a little before mid-calf. This allows the slimmer part of the legs to be revealed so that the overall aesthetic is more flattering.
If unsure, go for a universally flattering A-line silhouette to avoid looking frumpy. Other silhouettes such as straight-cut or voluminous shapes can work too but is unlikely to be suitable for all petites.
Wear heels with simple or minimal design such as sandals so that they do not add extra bulk to the outfit.
Midi designs which are fitted at the waist are good options for petites as they provide definition and a feminine hourglass look. Loose fitting designs may backfire as they can look too overwhelming on a shorter frame.
If you are petite and have more tips when it comes to wearing a midi-length dress or bottom, feel free to share your ideas in the comment section below!
