How To Wear An Oversized Blazer
Happy hump day, hope you are having a great week so far!
I am quite adventurous when it comes to trying new trends or styles but the oversized blazer is something I tend to avoid. This pastel pink blazer was an impulse buy and had been lying in my closet for a long time. I bought it because I love the color but never got to wearing it as it looks big on my frame (why didn’t I thought of that when I bought it?).
There are many articles offering advice on how to wear an oversized blazer such as these posts (The Oversized Blazer: Is There A Right Way To Wear It and Boyfriend Blazer), so I won’t go into details repeating the same ideas. Instead, I will share with you what works for me as a petite woman. The first thing that came into my mind when I was styling this oversized blazer is to 1) add a belt and 2) match it with something short.
If you do not want to look like you have been swallowed by your blazer, adding some waist definition with a belt will create much-needed shape. The overall look may appear more polished than effortless, which I do not mind personally. Visiting the tailor to take in an inch or two can be the next best option if adding a belt is not your preference. For petite ladies, it will also be advisable to match an oversized blazer with shorts, mini skirts or short dresses so that your legs look longer. The effect will be one that is balanced and proportionate, compared to matching an oversized blazer with longer bottoms which will make your torso look longer that it is.
