Autumn always seems to be the briefest of seasons. It’s probably because we tend to start seeing holiday decorations so early (and because the days start getting shorter) that it often seems like winter when we’ve only just started adjusting to the end of summer! Whatever the case, winter will soon arrive, and with it will come the opportunity to fully embrace your fall/winter wardrobe. If you haven’t shopped yet for the cooler months, here are a few trends you can embrace with ease.
1 – Sparkling Shoes
It seems almost like an odd suggestion, but if you’ve kept your eye on catalogues and online slideshows of fall and winter looks at all, you’ve probably become familiar with it. Looking through holiday shoes for women, you’ll see a lot of color and shine. Even within this, however, it’s hard not to notice glitter and sparkles! Whether in boots, high-heels, flats, or high-heeled boots for that matter, winter shoes are being encased in glittering exteriors that make them sparkle against some of the duller tones that so often dominate the season. It’s a wonderfully fun trend that seems to be popping up everywhere.
2 – Oversized Turtlenecks
Could there possibly be a cozier trend than an oversized turtleneck? It’s just a big baggy sweater, perfectly toasty for the season, complete with a neck large enough to serve as a sort of raised pillow around your neck and the bottom of your face. Or at least, that’s how I think of it! Oversized turtlenecks popped up on runways for fall and winter fashion throughout the year, coming in all kinds of different colors. You might consider looking for one in a bright shade of red, given that this is about as popular a color as a specific season has seen in years this winter.
3 – Sweater Dresses
Dresses are always some of the most versatile items, and there are certainly occasions to go with full-length options. If you’re looking for a dress for a New Year’s party, you might opt for something more formal. A write-up on recommended attire for an evening out suggested a floor-length dress with heels if you have a fancy dinner. But for your more informal occasions – drinks with friends or family over the holidays, a day out shopping at the mall, etc. – a sweater dress will do just fine this season. There are all kinds of cute options being showcased across the internet and in fashion catalogues, so you have your pick of styles.
4 – Talismanic Jewelry
I’ll be quite honest – I wasn’t aware of this term until I saw it on a list of fashion accessories for the fall and winter, but now I can’t get enough of it! Calling them transmitters of good luck and averters of misfortune, the article pointed to everything from charmed bracelets to feathered necklaces, painting a picture of a fun, personal, and affordable brand of accessory. Broadly speaking, just keep in mind that some offbeat (but far from tacky) jewelry options are certainly making the rounds this season.
The pink and grey combo was all the rage last year but the rave seems to have died down. Nevertheless, I think that it is one of the most lovely color combinations ever! With pink blooms spotted all over the neighborhood I stay at, I couldn’t resist using these beautiful florals as a backdrop for my pink and grey weekend #ootd.
Happy Friday everyone! It’s already close to end October and the festive season is fast approaching. Although I do find it somewhat shocking that time is passing SO quickly, I am excited about the upcoming celebrations too (already hearing Christmas bells and fireworks for New Year). Hope you are feeling the same way as I do and if you are not feeling it, perhaps some beautiful fashion selections will help? As in my last post here, I have picked out some designs under $200 from Nordstrom. This time, the focus is on lovely pieces suitable for the festive period!

Stripes are always popular but I especially love it when they are incorporated into the summery nautical theme. Whether you are taking a boat trip or going for a beach resort holiday, nautical inspired designs are great pieces to bring along to add to that holiday cheer!
It is the New Year so I will like to spend some time sharing some of my personal stories!
I have loved fashion for as long as I remember. Growing up, my favorite past-time is to go window shopping as this allows me the time to indulge in browsing through the latest fashion items on the racks in department stores and boutiques. Despite being really passionate about fashion styling and trends, I never thought that I will go into the fashion industry as I was taught since young that being an academic is a more practical career choice.
Do u have an item in your wardrobe that you will describe as cool and strong? For me, a chic leather jacket will probably fits this description best.
Do you prefer a mountain or a river ? When I was younger, I came across a personality quiz that asked this question. The answer that came loud and clear to me was presented as a flash across my mind in the image of a clear and calm river. I have since came to admire the majestic beauty of the mountains as well but was reminded of why I love water when I look at the Malacca River, which cuts across the town of Malacca. There is something so tranquil and serene about this river that put the mind at ease when I just look at it!
The following pictures were taken along or near the river and at the boutique hotel where my husband and I stayed –
Living in Singapore, it can get really hot at times. However, it does give me tons of opportunities to wear lightweight casual basics and pretty summery dresses. Much as I love autumn/winter fashion, not needing to pile on more overalls and accessories (such as gloves, scarves or stockings) does have its conveniences. Having said this, I will be featuring images of a really cute floral dress that is suitable for the humid weather of Singapore in this post:
Just a quick post to start off the week!
The Houndstooth trend in Fashion has been ongoing for a while and I have since been exposed to numerous related designs since working in the Fashion industry. However, nothing quite catches my eye like this classy number, which is not only flattering for my petite frame, but also exudes a minimalist elegance. A timeless piece that I adore and am so happy that it matches so well with my new Spiral monochrome hat. Together, a sophisticated contemporary European style is achieved.
Hope you like this post and see you again soon.
